Introduction

The Ganesh Chalisa is a devotional hymn composed in praise of Lord Ganesha. It narrates Ganesha’s divine form, his birth story, the test of wisdom between him and Kartikeya, and his supreme glory. Lord Ganesha is revered as the remover of obstacles, the first to be worshipped, and the deity of wisdom.

Significance

Reciting the Ganesh Chalisa removes all obstacles and bestows wisdom, knowledge, and accomplishment. It is considered especially fruitful when recited on Wednesdays. It holds special significance on Ganesh Chaturthi.

How to Recite

The Ganesh Chalisa should be recited in the morning after bathing, with a pure mind. Sit before an image or idol of Lord Ganesha, offer durva grass and modak (sweets), and begin the recitation.
